THE SILK SHROUD   (1st in the Series)

"You ladies managed to get me to appreciate the twist in the story, and to elicit so many emotions as I made my way through the book. Well done. It is not every author who can take you on an emotional ride such as this. I now will be waiting to see what you have in mind for Dorothy and everyone else. By the way I am so happy to see how Max played an important role in the storyline. "

Keep on writing ladies.
B. Cormier

The way you share their relationships made me enjoy it even more, they were genuine and I felt invested in solving this along with them. We need more novels with strong, smart and  determined female characters like Dorothy. As the story evolved, I really thought I had it figured out - actually a few times I thought I had it figured out-  but I didn’t. I was hooked, it really was a page turner, it is so well written and I really enjoyed it."

The story flows the way you want it to with some really rather ingenious litte plots causing unexpected twists and turns that lard the whole with such complications you really wonder how it can possibly be resolved... but it all comes right and not a trick is missed. This is a collaboration, not often seen to such a great degree of smooth flowing writing... Nicci French springs to mind, I'm sure there are others. But this is good. Really rather good, and I'm very glad I picked it up. I was left wanting more and really hope we all get some.

The Silk Shroud captivated me from the first chapter. A Geisha doll is thrown from a car into the path of a successful businessman, Paul Webster. This alters the course of his life. When another Geisha doll turns up at this house, the intrigue deepens, and further events lead him to hire a private investigator, Dorothy Dennehy. From the moment Paul and Dorothy meet, the chemistry between them is evident, but the writer does a superb job of allowing this relationship to develop slowly, alongside the unraveling story.

This story feels like it has been well researched, it was insightful into the Japanese textile industry, artifact smuggling, and company mergers.

The Silk Shroud is well written and unique. The characters are well developed, and the mystery of the Geisha dolls is creatively incorporated throughout the novel, while the engaging mystery keeps a reader turning the pages.

Paul Webster is on his way to set up a merger that will help his company grow when an unexpected adventure falls into his lap. After hiring PI Dorothy Dennehy to try to help him solve the mystery, the two uncover a smuggling ring that will not only potentially put Paul's business into jeopardy, but also both their lives.
This book was a perfect combination of great characters and plot. Anyone who is looking for an adventure with a bit of mystery and romance will love this. It was an easy read that I didn't want to put down

In this ambitious debut novel the reader is taken on a roller coaster ride through the world of corporate espionage complicated by the dangerous business of stolen Asian artifacts.

P.I. Dorothy Dennehy whose houseboat home on the Oregon coast doubles as her high tech office is hired by intelligence officer turned business mogul Paul Webster to discover who is leaving him life-sized Geisha dolls. Dorothy’s investigation leads her to both danger and romance. Along the way the reader is introduced to a wealth of quirky characters—some charming, some dangerous—and it’s not always easy to tell which is which. The common thread that weaves them together is a lovely, newly developed textile with mysterious—and dangerous—properties.

Pamela Blance and Liz Lindzay, who together write as Jamie Tremain, have given us an exciting new investigative pair and leave us with the promise of more to come!

LIGHTNING STRIKE  (2nd in the Series)

Early reviews: "Like the first book in the series, this is a page turner you won’t be able to put down. Bravo!" - Taylor Jones. And "Lighting Strike, like The Silk Shroud, is well written, fast paced, and intense—a marvelous whodunit you won’t be able to stop reading." - Regan Murphy

"Lightning Strike is as much about relationships as it is a mystery and it's that level of emotional intensity that draws the reader in to this well-plotted mystery novel featuring a strong but all-too vulnerable woman."

I like how Dorothy had to get past her own personal grief to handle this most personal case. To discover who actually murdered xxxxx, she has to wade through a list of business contacts and family members, all while keeping it together. She has many roadblocks to get by, and not the least of which is Portland Police detective in charge, Michael D’Amico. He’s stubborn, tenacious, and just won’t let up. Dorothy has HB, her dad and a dedicated team on her side. Still, the evidence, especially Paul’s journals, is confusing for them. It takes serious determination on Dorothy’s part to figure out what happened and why, not to mention figuring out who on her suspect list is actually lying to her. This novel should be developed into a movie script.

Having followed Dorothy Dennehy since her first outing, diving into Lightning Strike felt like reconnecting with a friend only this time, the stakes are higher, the emotions deeper, and the tension near-unbearable.

Jamie Tremain wastes no time plunging readers into the storm: a brutal murder that not only halts Dorothy’s plans to reunite with her fiancĂ© in New York but also paints a target on her back. From the get-go, the book is a taut, emotionally charged mystery that balances the grit of criminal investigation with the raw, unfiltered weight of personal trauma.

What truly stands out in Lightning Strike is Dorothy herself. She’s smart, intuitive, and fierce, but we see her pushed to the brink here. Being accused wrongly by the very people she’s worked alongside is more than just a professional hurdle; it’s a deeply personal betrayal. You feel her isolation and frustration, and you root for her not just to solve the case but to reclaim her name and dignity.

The pacing is excellent. The mystery unfolds in layers, and while Tremain keeps us guessing, it never feels like a gimmick. Every twist hits with emotional resonance because the characters are so grounded. The supporting cast especially Dorothy’s close knit circle adds warmth and levity in just the right doses, creating a contrast that makes the darker moments hit harder.

And let’s talk about the emotional core of the book. Tremain doesn’t shy away from exploring how grief, suspicion, and betrayal fracture even the strongest bonds. But what makes this book stick with you is how it weaves those fractures back into something stronger. Redemption, as the title suggests, is earned never handed out.

If you’re looking for a mystery with heart, one that respects both the genre and the emotional intelligence of its characters, Lightning Strike delivers. Dorothy Dennehy is not just solving crimes she’s surviving them, and in doing so, she shows us what resilience really looks like.

A gripping, heartfelt read. I’m already looking forward to what Jamie Tremain throws at Dorothy next.     (Helena Regan)

Cultivating The Truth

The Grant's Crossing Series

Death on the Alder

I loved the setting in this Death on the Alder – Grant’s Crossing, a small town with an old house across the bridge that’s home to a group of elderly people who have their own ideas on how to spend their retirement. In charge of these oldsters is a young couple, Alysha and Jeff, who have a special interest in alpaca farming and solving the mystery of the bodies pulled from the Alder River. I will definitely read the next book in the series.      G. Ferris

This is book #1 in Jamie Tremain’s cozy mystery series, Grant’s Crossing. It is well-written, has an intriguing plot, and memorable characters who reside in the senior’s country estate that 28-year-old Alysha Grant inherited. She arrives not knowing whether Leven Lodge will be her and her boyfriend’s new home or if she should sell the business. Her interactions with her paying guests and the mixed responses to the lodge being run by someone so young is full of surprises. As if being accepted by her new lodge charges isn’t enough of a challenge for Alysha, she is compelled to discover the truth behind a body found in the river by her family’s Old Mill property a few days before her arrival. Her sleuthing puts her in grave danger when she gets too close to the truth.

Resort to Murder

Alysha and Dianne (and host of quirky characters) are back in this second installment of the Grant’s Crossing light mystery series. Murder, a new guest, secrets revealed, a shocking arrest, and perhaps a new love interest for Alysha (I know who I’m rooting for) make Leven Lodge a hotbed of twisty-turny action. Oh, and alpacas; there are more alpacas. Will definitely read the next one in the series when it's published.

Acting Off-Script

Game Changer    (4th in the Series)

"I read it one day. Loved it, and love the characters. I have a favourite. When is the next book coming out?"   Maureen P.     (Jamie Tremain asked Maureen who her favourite was.  "The chief, of course." was her response.)

"I must say this new book is awesome. You guys nailed it from page one. I'm not finished but I sure am enjoying it. Great job!"  Pat E.
